As a chef and working in the restaurant industry for over 40 years, I cooked many great meals in many styles and cultures. I wasn’t always focused on health. I was focused on creative tasty well-presented food that would be exciting to the guests. I used fresh ingredients, but a lot of the food was imbalanced health wise. Heavy cream sauces, carbohydrates, seed oils, and fried everything! I was also eating these things! I couldn’t keep my weight in check.
So, I began researching better, more healthy ways of creating tasty, satiating beautiful food that I could eat and feel good, serving to my customers.
Things to Keep in Mind for a Healthy Diet:
Balance Your Diet:
Ensure your meals include a variety of food groups: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. This balance provides essential nutrients your body needs to function optimally.
Portion Control:
Be mindful of portion sizes to avoid overeating. Using smaller plates and bowls can help control portions and prevent consuming excess calories.
Stay Hydrated:
Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated supports digestion, nutrient absorption, and overall health. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water daily.
I use a water distiller to purify my drinking water.
Limit Processed Foods:
Minimize the intake of processed and sugary foods. These often contain unhealthy fats, added sugars, and sodium, which can contribute to various health issues.
Eliminate seed oils from your diet. Check labels on things like corn chips for the type of oil that they were fried in.
5 Ingredient Rules:
When purchasing packaged foods look for foods with the least amount of ingredients and the fewest multi syllable word ingredients. Whenever possible shop locally at farmers markets, Dairys and ranches.
Mindful Eating:
Pay attention to what you eat and savor each bite. Avoid distractions like TV or smartphones during meals. This practice can help you enjoy your food more and recognize when you’re full. Try intermittent fasting and keep your eating window to 8 hours.
Enjoy!
